Read: Mark 14:27-31: Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:‘I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered.’“But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.” Peter said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble, yet I will not be.” Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” But he spoke more vehemently, “If I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And they all said likewise.

Life is guaranteed to have trials and tribulations. You may wish for all good days with clear skies, it is guaranteed that you will have your share of moments of turmoil and despair. Struggle and pain is simply a testament that you can still feel. The songwriter says it best, “I won’t complain.” Faith is solidified in the moments of crisis, over the moments of triumph. It is when things are going rough that your faith is tested and your prayer life is strengthened. There are many examples of this in the bible, from Joseph to Job to Jesus. It is guaranteed that life will trouble you, but the question is how will you respond?

The key to a good life is not ignoring the problems that you face. It is not even in having all good moments. The key is in believing that your current situation is not the end of the journey. In Mark 14:27-31, Jesus emphasizes the frailty of humanity, that in moment of crisis, we can break. We are fallible to stress and chaos, when we do not have our feet planted in the abiding strength of God.

When faced with adversity, it is an opportunity to go deeper into the Word of God, remember the great things God has done for you and the promises God has made for the future. Though the present moment may seem dark and unsettling, take a breath, pray and release all your stresses to God for God cares for you. Struggle doesn’t last always. Have faith and believe that better is on the way. Soon enough, you will reap great rewards for your faithfulness to God, even when it was most difficult.

Pray: God, my everything, praise belongs to you for you are worthy of it. Give me the strength to keep going even when it is hard. Life has me against the wall, but I trust that it is working out for my good. I trust your divine plan for my life. In the name of your precious Son, Jesus, Amen.
