Say Yes To Better

Luke 17

One of the most prevalent issues I run into with the youth I work with is the lack of belief that they can be better. Whether it was people telling them they would never be anything or the low skill-level they may possess, they often come into my classroom burdened with the weight of doubt, low self-esteem, and pity. Before I can help them learn anything, I must work out the many ideas about themselves that seek to destroy them. For so many of them, they are surrounded by that negativity. Anything contrary to their reality is foreign and hard to shake.

God is standing right before us stretching out God’s hand to lift us out of our despair, but we have become so used to our self-pity that anything contrary to it is abnormal. The deliverance that we seek is right before us, but deliverance doesn’t occur at the hand of God solely. To move beyond where we are to where God wants us to be, God need us to recognize that we are nothing without God. God needs us to offer God our hand and humbly follow God down the path toward restoration.

Pastor Reginald Sharpe, in this sermon, argues that our lives will not get better unless we make a shift in our minds and follow God where God leads us. Everything starts in the mind. There is a war going on and the enemy is fighting for dominion over your mind. Make the choice today to choose God for better and realize a brand-new world, much different than anything you’ve ever known.
