Watch: The Ability to Walk by Rev. Aisha Taylor

We often take for granted the ability to walk. From a young age, many of us were taught how to walk. Some of us were delayed and others struggled in the process. One foot in front of the other; Step by step, we often do it without thinking, but walking helps us get somewhere. We walk in order to move our bodies from one place to another, with the deep desire not to stand still, but to move.

Psalm 23 speaks to the power of walking. God grants us the ability to “walk through the valleys of the shadows of death”.  God guides us through the dark storms of life. God helps us step over the rocks in our way. Yes, we must encounter trouble. Yes, suffering must be endured. But, it’s all a process. And, with God leading the way, we can sufficiently traverse through the darkest moments of the soul.

Yet, what are we walking to? We are walking through these dark places in order to realize the glory that has yet to be revealed. Holding the hand of our God, we can walk through any situation and come out victorious. We must not fear anything, for God is by our side, walking beside us, leading us over into the promise land.

Prayer: Mother/Father God, you are a comforting force in my life when danger arises and I need help, you are there to lead me through. For this and so many other things, I’m grateful. Less of my own self-centered will, and more of yours. In the name of your Son, Jesus, Amen.
