Morning Motivation: Don’t waste time trying to impress other people, just impress yourself. Be better today than you were yesterday.
Read: 1 Chronicles 4:9-10: And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
The goal for this week is to make yourself better than you were last week. Don’t try to be perfect. If you try to be perfect you’ll crack under the pressure, just be better. Today’s sermon teaches us how to strive for improvement without wasting time trying to impress people. Too often people fail to reach their goals because their goals aren’t geared towards the right things. You need healthy goals like living a life that honors God or serving your community with greater impact. Don’t waste time making goals to impress other people.
The truth is folks will hate on you no matter what you try to do. So instead of wasting time working for their approval work for God’s approval. Unlike people you work to impress, when you impress God He will pour back into you. Your spirit will be revitalized and you’ll feel a new sense of satisfaction, hope, and joy. If you try to impress others you’ll just keep running on empty. Live your life today with higher goals. And as you reach those higher goals you’ll experience higher happiness.
